I have been receiving questions from folks wanting to know if a full length air conditioner cover is recommended. The answer is yes!
Properly made air conditioner covers made of waterproof (highly water resistant) breathable fabric should cover the bottom of the outdoor condenser to keep ice and snow build up out of the bottom of the outdoor air conditioner condenser unit.
Some companies have a real condensation build up problem when offering their vinyl covers and make their covers to not cover and protect the bottom of the outdoor unit to try and compensate for vinyl material that does not breathe and builds up condensation.
Fortunately most folks see through this sales pitch and purchase proper breathable full length air conditioner covers. Improper covers can build up condensation and can damage electrical control wiring and other critical components of the outdoor condenser.
Great post. It enlightens me to some questions that is turning around my head. Condensation problems may cause or trigger another problems that will affect your family.
