My Grill Cover Is Leaving Black Marks On My New Stainless Steel Grill Lid!

A consumer called and complained to us they had purchased a black barbeque grill cover from another company that sold plastic type vinyl covers and acrylic covers and the grill cover was leaving black marks with a faint fabric weave pattern on their new stainless steel barbeque grill lid.

The consumer stated the black markings and faint fabric pattern markings on the barbeque grill lid were nearly impossible to remove.

The consumer wanted to know why this was happening. After asking the consumer several questions we were able to quickly identify the problem!

1. The consumer had purchased a black vinyl fabric backed grill cover.
2. The consumer lived in Arizona where they had experienced prolonged periods of heat.
3. The cover would sit on the barbeque grill / grill lid for long periods of time in the Arizona heat.

Problem: Heat transfer of the black vinyl through the vinyl cover fabric backing onto the stainless steel barbeque grill lid.

Solution: Purchase our high quality, durable and long lasting natural fiber outdoor canvas grill covers.

Research shows it is better to use light colored materials on outdoor equipment with exposure to high heat because it does a better job of reflecting the sun which creates heat.

Dark colored barbeque grill covers absorb and can amplify heating of metal surfaces the cover is to protect and degrades the cover material quicker than lighter colored fabrics and therefore the cover ends up with a shorter life.

I recently purchased and installed a Champion Essick evaporative cooler side dishcarge for my mom's home.

The model is RN50W.

Question #1, I need something other than the pictured cover on your website.  Is black, dark green available? Yes!

Question #2, my mom is elderly, and due to her alergies she needs to cover the cooler each time her lawn is cut.  So I need a swamp cooler cover that is easy to place over the swamp cooler and then removed fairly easy and yes it will remain on the swamp cooler during the winter season.  If I order the cut out opening option, does that make the cover easier to use? Absolutely!

I have a question about my heating system can you help me?

With over 17.5 years as a HVAC professional I believe I can assist you. If I do not know the answer to your question(s) I have great relationships with all major equipment manufactures and between us I feel confident we can help you. Email me at mark@capcover.com with questions and provide contact information and I will do all I can to resolve your heating and air conditioning system issues.

Will you make cut outs for the refrigerant tubing and electrical wiring where I want them?

We will make cut outs within the protective cover where you want them. Our cut outs are custom measured and cut to fit nicely around the refrigerant tubing and electrical wiring of the outdoor air conditioner condenser.

What do I do to keep my cover on the outdoor air conditioner unit in very high winds?

We recommend securing your full length air conditioner outdoor condenser protective cover with a set of quality long lasting nylon secure straps.

We offer a set of 2 made to size high quality long lasting nylon web straps which can be placed around the outdoor unit cover and cinched up tight to keep the cover tight to the outdoor unit and not allow the cover to shift around or blow off the outdoor air conditioner unit during high winds. Has 200 lbs of pull and non-rust buckles.

Commonly offered cotton fabric straps will rot and mildew and not last long when used outdoors. We kindly suggest you not waste your money on purchasing these types of cheap cotton straps.

Full Length Protective Covers are Highly Recommended

I have been receiving questions from folks wanting to know if a full length air conditioner cover is recommended. The answer is yes!

Properly made air conditioner covers made of waterproof (highly water resistant) breathable fabric should cover the bottom of the outdoor condenser to keep ice and snow build up out of the bottom of the outdoor air conditioner condenser unit.

Some companies have a real condensation build up problem when offering their vinyl covers and make their covers to not cover and protect the bottom of the outdoor unit to try and compensate for vinyl material that does not breathe and builds up condensation.

Fortunately most folks see through this sales pitch and purchase proper breathable full length air conditioner covers. Improper covers can build up condensation and can damage electrical control wiring and other critical components of the outdoor condenser.
